In order to obtain a quality standardized NFU 44095 compost, the sludges are mixed with co-composting materials. These co-composting materials consist of plant matter and possibly a fermentable fraction of household waste and/or animal manure.

Composting slaughterhouse waste

These wastes are subject to regulations in terms of size and temperature before composting. The following wastes must be mixed with co-composting materials: blood, feathers, offal, viscera, fats, and digestive tract contents collected from animals suitable for consumption as well as parts of slaughtered animals declared unfit for consumption.

Hatcheries produce the following waste: dead and culled animals, downgraded and clear eggs, shells, down feathers, unhatched fertilized eggs.
